[LN] Houkago wa Kenka Saikyou no Gal ni Tsurekomareru Seikatsu: - Volume 1 - Prologue

Prologue

Upon entering secondary school, Shiki Oribushi began experiencing bullying.

He was not the type of person who was usually bullied; in fact, until secondary school, he had led a life free from bullying.

He was just slightly shorter than the average height for his age, and his athletic abilities were quite good.

He wasn’t particularly smart, with grades in the lower half of his class at the junior high school he attended. Due to his kind-hearted nature, sense of justice, and good personality, he was often avoided by others.

The reason why Shiki was immediately targeted for intimidation upon entering secondary school was quite simple.

“Haa... haa... haa... haa... haa...”

During the break before the second class, Shiki ran down the stairs, gasping for breath.

And with a time limit of 100 seconds.

The classroom that was on the fourth floor in the first year is now on the third floor in the second year, and while we could say that this has made things slightly better, the time limit has been shortened by 30 seconds, and the number of times he has to do this has increased, so Shiki’s burden has actually doubled.

I don’t even want to think about how bad his situation will be in the future, considering it has been less than half a month since the start of the school year.

I descend the stairs and arrive at the corner where the vending machine is located, but unfortunately, I have to wait because one of the students came to buy juice from the vending machine I wanted to use.

When that student purchases the juice and walks away, Shiki immediately inserts the money into the vending machine.

First, he buys oolong tea for Kawato, the leader of the delinquent group, followed by barley tea and orange juice for his two cronies.

He collects his change and holds the cans in both hands, about to turn around and run out of the store as fast as possible.

“Whoa!”

She nearly collides with a red-haired girl who was queuing behind him, and pale-faced, she tries to dodge forcefully, only to stumble and send the cans flying in the air.

Shiki watches the cans fall to the floor moments later, and he catches a glimpse of the future where he will be forced to buy another drink with his own money and be beaten as punishment, leaving a bitter feeling in his heart.

But then,

Oops...

Shiki’s eyes widened unconsciously as he saw a girl catching all three cans with an iron fan in her hands.

Moreover, I’m certain that I collided with that girl due to my haste, but thanks to her quick reaction and remarkable body movements, I was able to avoid the collision with her.

Shiki, still struggling to accept all of this and much more, stared blankly in the girl’s direction while lying on his back.

The girl, simply put, was a Yanke.

Her hair was dyed a fiery red and tied up in a ponytail, and she held a white stick in her mouth.

It was impossible for someone like her to be wearing a proper school uniform, and she dressed as if she didn’t know about the school regulations.

Her skirt was extremely short, and with the tiny loose socks she wore, her healthy white thighs and calves were exposed as much as possible.

This made it very difficult for Shiki, lying there, to look away. If you disregard the fact that she’s a Yankee, the fact that she’s a beautiful girl makes it even harder to avert his gaze.

The girl’s name was Karin Kohinata.

Within just half a year since entering the school, she had defeated the fierce students at St. Rukimantsu Academy, known as a school for troublemakers, and had become the head of the school in both name and reality.

“You... ‘Jo-Tei’...”

(TL/N: “Jo-tei” in Japanese refers to “Empress” or “Empress Consort.” This term is used to describe a woman who holds the highest power in the Japanese monarchy system.)

Unconsciously, I uttered the nickname “Jo-Tei”... Without hesitation, she looked at me with her narrow eyes, uttering words filled with deep hatred.

“Don’t call me by such a ridiculous nickname. And quickly accept this!”

While saying this, Karin held a fan made of iron with three cans on top of it with both hands. The weight was concentrated at one point, causing Karin’s hands to tremble slightly when lifting it.

Karin’s iron fan seemed heavier because it was made entirely of iron, including its internal parts.

“I apologize for... this!”

He held the cans and bowed deeply before fleeing from Karin like a frightened rabbit.

I am fully aware that this is not an admirable attitude, but despite that, I couldn’t resist the urge to distance myself from “Jo-Tei” as quickly as possible.

In a way, she was the most famous person in school, and Shiki knew that Karin wasn’t the type to bully the weak but rather the type to help the weak and frustrate the strong. She said, “I only embarrass those I don’t like,” but she also knew that many of those she disliked were troublemaking bullies who oppressed the weak and idolized the strong, so they definitely viewed her in that light.

She also knew that as a result of her success in silencing the unruly students, the school, which was once known for its bad reputation, became slightly safer, and that’s why she was so popular at school.

But...

Even if these factors were ignored, to Shiki, who was under threat from the delinquents, the girl named Kohinata Karin was nothing but an awe-inspiring figure.

Kawato, who bullied Shiki, was strong enough to beat Shiki to a pulp. It was said that Kawato had also been beaten when he confronted an older troublemaking student.

But even Karin was strong enough to beat her seniors.

Shiki’s nerves weren’t thick enough to stay calm in front of “Jo-Tei,” who was so strong in fights that she almost passed out. As if displaying her inner turmoil, as soon as he reached the stairs, Shiki ran up the stairs in five leaps.

“Hmmm...?”

For some reason, Karin turned her face and raised her eyebrow slightly.
